About Us

Marcel was born and raised in Spokane, Washington where she earned her AAS in baking at the Inland Northwest Culinary Academy (INCA). Since 1985 she has been an instructor teaching cake decorating and baking skills at INCA.

In Jan. of 2005 Marcel opened her own bakery, where she creates custom cakes of all shapes and sizes for any occasion. She enjoys the challenge that each new cake brings. In 2006 Marcel was fortunate enough to hire her daughter, Stephanie, to help her expand her business. Marsells Cakes and Desserts Bakery can now include custom decorated cookies, specialty brownies and gourmet cookies in the products that they are able to provide for the consumer.

When Marcel gets a break from the bakery she enjoys sewing, oil painting, gardening, and spending time with her husband of more than 30 years, her two children and her grandchildren.

Marcel has competed in many bakery competitions, including state cake shows and Retail Baking Association (RBA) competitions. She is a national competitor for the RBA and represents Washington State. Marcel placed 4th in 2005 and 1st in 2006 in the national cake sculpting competition. She is a member of WSSA, RBA, ICES, and INPRO. Marcel earned her certification as a journey baker and certified cake decorator in 2006.
